Clinical Trials Data Manager

Location: Amherst, NY

Frontier Science, a non-profit Data Management Center participating in large clinical research projects, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team. We are looking to hire a Clinical Trials Data Manager to work with investigators, data management teams, biostatisticians, programmers, and clinical research site personnel on clinical trials in the HIV or cancer research areas.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

  • Review and validate clinical trial data (e.g. participant history, treatment, adverse events, laboratory test results, etc.)
  • Identify and query data discrepancies
  • Develop, review, and understand data management documentation (protocols, manuals, electronic case report forms (eCRFs), data checks, SOPs, data transfer agreements, etc.)
  • Manage complex Excel spreadsheets
  • Produce data quality control reports
  • Retrieve data from a relational database
  • Support site personnel via email/phone and by conducting trainings (additional opportunities to participate in local and international site training activities available)
  • Test and validate data collection instruments
  • Train and mentor internal staff and interns as needed


  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external collaborators
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (including high-level proficiency in Excel) and excellent overall technical skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, positive, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, work both independently and as a team player, multi-task, adapt to changing priorities, perform job duties with minimal guidance, and meet deadlines
  • On-the-job learning

Highly desirable but not required:

  • Familiarity with medical concepts and terminology
  • Prior clinical trials data management experience
  • Experience with clinical trial management systems (e.g. Medidata Rave)
  • Knowledge of clinical trial guidelines and regulations
  • Experience in biology, public health, or other health related discipline

Entry-level salary is $44,500; In-office position
