Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study

Since 2005, Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS) has been building a body of data to understand how HIV affects sexual maturation, pubertal development, and socialization of pre-adolescents and adolescents who were born with or born exposed to HIV. A primary challenge in this study was to assess the long-term safety of fetal and infant exposure to prophylactic antiretroviral therapy.

Follow-up studies are continuing and are expected to reveal numerous findings that will impact the lives of those born with HIV or born exposed to HIV. Sue Siminski, Frontier Science CEO, serves as the Principal Investigator for the PHACS Data Management Center. She has been directing the data management activities and related initiatives for the PHACS Network since its inception.
